As humans, our muscles evolved so we can move through space efficiently. Our ability to stand, walk, run and throw is what has separated us from all other species and are the fundamental movements that we use to perform everything we physically do, from our everyday actions, too expressing elite athleticism.
The effects of technology and modern living
The development of technology and societal demands has transformed are health, turning us into compressed, dehydrated, overstimulated, sedentary beings, and moved us far away from what took us to being exceptional hunters and gatherers to industrial workers and farmers. Due to the consistent stimulus placed on our bodies from daily sedentary behaviours, it has made how we organise our movements to move distorted, leaving us imbalanced and dysfunctional.
In my Personal Training practice, I have seen a drastic increase in people dealing with small aches and pains all the way up to being in chronic debilitating agony. We can see this globally, with many westernised countries dealing with health epidemics, addressing symptoms with medication rather than getting to the root cause.
Why traditional training methods fall short
Most clients I see have used traditional methods of training to try address their issues, and make up for there lack of daily movement, that more often than not gave them temporary relief, but end up back where they started, if not worse. It does not respect our biological blueprint, training muscle in isolation rather as part of a integrated system, often exacerbating underlying dysfunctions.
A holistic approach to restoring natural movement
I use a holistic training system that prioritises the mechanics of fundamental movements to reform and optimise the body to function as it was designed to, building strong, resilient and athletic bodies for life.
